National Ocean Science Forum 2004, 18 - 19 August, Octave Wiehe Auditorium, Réduit

The National Global Ocean Observing System Coordination Committee (NGCC) of the Mauritius Oceanography Institute is organising the second National Ocean Science Forum on the 18th and 19th of August 2004 at the Octave Wiehe Auditorium in Réduit.
 

 The main objectives of the National Ocean Science Forum are:

•to communicate new marine research and ocean development activities to the scientific community and interested public;

•to offer a platform for multidisciplinary discussion among the scientists, academics and policy makers on scientific needs and economic potential of oceanographic research;

•to promote understanding and public appreciation of the 

 

Call For Papers

The Mauritius Oceanography Institute invites scientific and technical papers,abstracts and posters from individuals or groups. Contributions on any aspect of marine science such as health of the coastal sea, coastal zone monitoring, open ocean processes and climate, ocean technology, ocean awareness, outreach activities, capacity building, maritime history, marine geology, living and non-living resources, energy from the sea, biodiversity and marine bio prospecting are welcome.

 Abstract    -   should be 400 words or less

 Full paper  -   3500 words or less including references

 Poster       -   should be of A0 or A1 size

 

Award

The Mauritius Oceanography Institute is offering three cash awards of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 to the first, second and third best paper presented in the Forum.

Two cash awards of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 will be offered to the best and second best posters.

All papers and posters should present the results of original research relevant to Mauritius. Papers and posters received by the closing date for submission will qualify for the competition.

 

Registration

Any person having an interest in ocean science is invited to participate in the Forum. There is no registration fee.
