MOI celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science
The 11th day of February has been earmarked as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, by resolution of the United Nations General Assembly. This day recognises the critical role women and girls play in science and technology and is implemented by UNESCO and UN Women, in collaboration with intergovernmental agencies and institutions, as well as civil society partners. The aim is to promote full and equal access to participation in science for women and girls.
MOI organised a brainstorming session on Tuesday 11 February 2020 with the participation of all female scientists and non-scientists to celebrate the International Day of Women and Girls in Science at MOI under the theme ‘The role of women in scientific research’. Topics of discussion included gender equality and how to reduce the gender disparity not only in science but at work and in general.
