The colour scale is LOGARITHMIC — chlorophyll spans orders of magnitude between the open ocean and the lagoon, so each step along the bar is a multiplication, not an addition. The map shows the raw ~4 km satellite cells, unsmoothed, so each rectangle is one measurement. Near-coast and lagoon values are over-estimated by the retrieval — a bright lagoon is not necessarily a productive one. Every frame is a satellite observation labelled with its own date; none of them is a forecast.
